Marriage and Families are Essential!!!

This year I began my education of Marriage and Family Studies at BYU-I! This is a topic and program that means a lot to me, and I hope through this blog that Marriage and the Families will become important to all of you as well!

All around the world today the traditional family is being forgotten, and the family is becoming a less prioritized focus in everyday life. I believe that the "Family is Ordained of God" meaning that the Family is essential to God's plan for all of us his children to be happy and become like him. Families are the most important social unit in this life and in eternity hereafter.

The majority of people in this day and age don't agree with the statement I have just claimed. In fact today marriage is seen as unnecessary or actually more problematic then good, and the family is seen as a waste of time, money,  and happiness by many. So many young adults are scared to get married and start families because of the current popular views of society, but also because they hear about so many horror stories about failed marriages and failed families. There is so much bad and negativity to focus on that people begin to believe that that is the commonality and not the exception. It is so sad to hear from so many that their faith in marriage and family has failed and they begin to believe there is no hope for their own family or future family. 

In the past I also feared for my own future family. All you hear today is about divorce, cheating, and abuse. It becomes hard to be hopeful to find happiness in your own family, and you might sometimes feel like you are bound to be another statistic rather then a family. In my own Marriage and Family classes students speak their fears and worries and desire to find ways to help there own families.

My hope through this blog is to rebuild and strengthen faith and hope in the family while also defending God's truth on the family! I desire to do this by sharing my learnings and testimony on this topic while also providing research and studies that support the importance of the family. I also want to look at the other side of things and talk about the problems facing families today and how we can find solutions and seek God's love inspired direction.

I love my own family with all my heart even though it hasn't been easy. My parents divorced when I was at a young age and I have felt the struggle and pain that resulted. I have siblings who have started their own families and have struggled and suffered from many different situations, but still Families are essential and beautiful. 

I agree with Jeffery R. Holland who said "Love is What You Go Through Together"! The blessings and joy that can come from the family is never ending! I know that the family is essential and ordained of God! A marriage and family aren't easy, but nothing that is worth it is ever easy. By learning about marriage and families growing to be ready for your own, or how to improve your relationship with your family now, will be an investment of Eternal value. I know with all my soul that families are essential and they mean everything to me!

I hope you will follow me on this adventure of seeing and discovering the beauty and importance of the family! As you do I promise that God will help change you willing heart to have faith in the family and in him!
