The Natural Man Is A Enemy To God

"For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticing's of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father." Mosiah 3:19. What is the natural man? What is natural for human beings? What tendency do we have as human beings that would make us an enemy to God?

I believe that the natural man is the total opposite of what is written in Moroni 7:45. It says "And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." The natural male or female is someone who is impatient, prideful, looks for self gratification, easily angered, always negative, hateful towards others, praises lies, believes in nothing, has no hope, and will not endure the night. These are all things that will destroy a marriage and a family, all things that will destroy true Christlike love.

We all fall prey to the natural man, there was only one who was perfect, who got it all right, who loved the way we are supposed to love in marriage and family. Jesus Christ in the only way that we can free ourselves from the natural man within us and become Christlike and truly enjoy the happiness of marriage and family life.

Marriage is not natural, it takes incredible sacrifice, endurance, patience, and time. Many feel like naturally marriage should just work itself out, and if we aren't feeling the love or the joys, it's because it's not with the right one, because its not naturally there. Marriage takes work, it takes sweat and tears, it takes a Savior and a loving Father in Heaven to bless and help us along the way.

So many get scared when they hear how hard marriage can be, and how much work it takes, and then they run from it. They think it can't be worth the time and effort, and seeing and hearing that breaks my heart. It is more than worth it, it is worth everything! Don't give up just because it is hard.

The love that you can feel in marriage, the joy and happiness you can receive is of eternal worth. These are gifts from a loving God, who wants us to experience the eternal life he experience's. Eternal marriage is worth everything, so put off the natural man and yield to the promptings of the Holy Ghost and follow Christ. Because he will lead you to a greater marriage and family life then you can comprehend.

Don't be afraid of marriage, be hopeful! Think the best of your future or current significant other. Sacrifice with them, and cry with them. Find joy together and encourage them more than anyone else. Seek for their happiness before your own, and give your life for them. For this is how Christ lived and gave up his life for us, and he loved us perfectly! I know marriage is ordained of God and I hope with all my heart that you will come to know that is true of your own self.
